Leap 0.1.5b Released

This is the last Leap update I'm going to be making. The only update the code has over the 0.1.5 release is the permissions bug fix that a few people had mentioned having problems with. Though this is (a rather anticlimactic) end to a nice project I had, I will be continuing the code and vision with another CMS. New details of this project will be released to coincide with the shutting down of this portal. As such, I'll still be supporting (somewhat slowly) any problems incurred with the latest update of Leap, and will release new updates that involve crucial bugfixes.

Changes in Version 0.1.5.:

- Removed Send 2 Friend Option

+ Fixed User Permissions Bug

+ Optimized database, it takes up less space and should perform faster.

+ Improved menu(); function with more customization options on the template level

+ extra(); function now has space definitions so more than one extra space can be used in a template, and extra content can load in the specific spaces.

+ Updated the control panel: The JS editor now works in all major browsers (Opera, FF, IE). Search Engine Friendly URLs are dynamically generated and maintained in the editor now (marginal support for foreign character translation when making URLs). Meta Keywords also double as content tags. Keywords are appended onto the META Keyword tag instead of replacing them. Descriptions still behave the same way. New option to set an Unpublish Date as well as a Publish date in advance. Categories now have Subcategories.

+ New search function. Boolean Mode searching provides rankable searches.

+ Breadcrumbs(); function introduced.

+ New security protocols to clean all POST and SESSION data, and validate administrative actions.

Unexpected Downtime and Name Changes

Hello everyone,

I apologize for a lengthy absence in replying to posts on the forum and emails. The site was down in the last week of July due to an oversight by my current host (shieldhost.com), and in response many networks relating to Gowon Designs and Leap removed my listings (including Google). All of my work was completely unavailable and I was forced to halt work on all of my projects.

Given the unapologetic attitudes of my current hosts and their lack of securing me that the situation would not happen again, I have no choice but to find a new host to conduct business and host my projects. I'm currently in the process carefully migrating everything over to my new host.

I've also just discovered another company offering a CMS named Leap. They've actually bought the domain leapcms.com (which I had intended on grabbing the .org version of) and have seemed to already have heavy established a brand around the product. Rather than fight over the name, and cause confusion over which product is which I've chosen to rebrand my cms and secure the spaces around the name to further the community around the product. Of course this means larger brand-related changes to Gowon Designs and it's presentation as well.

As this is all a one-man operation, changes like this take time. I would hate rushing the infrastructure, design, and execution of all of this, and I have less time to work on things during the school-year when I'm focused on my studies.

Beyond serious bugs and security concerns, any major updates to Leap are on hold until the new site is launched, and I'll try my best to stay timely with my responses on the community forum. Thank you for using my products and I hope you continue to enjoy and look for everything I'm trying to put out for the public.

i have a problem with your perfect cms.
it's about the extra content included with the leap
why none of the extra content's appear on the home page?
this is really important for me.
can you fix the leap.php file and send it back to me?
just add the ability for the extra content to appear on home page should be added.

I know this forum isn't very active. That's a pity because Leap seems to have potential.

My question is: How do I add a truly custom page, a page with my own PHP script for example. I tried just to add:

echo "Hello World!";

?>

in the content editor for the "Example Page", but it doesn't print anything.

Can't set Permissions for Users

So I've been using Leap for awhile now, and only JUST noticed what I believe to be a pretty big bug.

When creating new user accounts you can't actually apply permissions to the account. It keeps unchecking the boxes after hitting submit. And no matter how many times I re-check the boxes, it doesn't apply the permission settings.

Also, to make matters worse, if you attempt to modify the Admin account, the boxes get unchecked, and thus have to reinstall Leap. I don't know how I never noticed this before, but it seems to be doing it for all my installations of Leap across 2 servers and various databases.

Editing Articles

Has anyone noticed a problem when Editing Articles?
When I go back to Edit, the entry is not displayed, so I have to copy and paste it back into edit it.
I think it is something to do with the length of the Articles, but I am not sure.
Otherwise, I think Leap is stunning.

Leap 0.1.5 Released

This release comes as a huge milestone in the project. I've made a lot of significant changes to to core features, fleshing out functions that I had previously been ignoring. This is also the point in which I'll start using the Upgrade feature that I have built in to the installer, so for all 0.1.5x releases, you will not need to reload the database to stay updated on Leap. I can't make that guarantee for 0.1.6x releases and above, but to prep for that, I will also be including a backup option in the installation script that will allow you to save all of your CONTENT (articles,pages,cats) and some system settings before installing a new version.

I'll also be working on completing the Readme file in the package so it will contain all the information to let you take the most advantage of the new features. Some changes that I'll be making to the system I won't be releasing a new version for, I'll just apply them to the current release (short tags, documentation), but I will notify when I make such changes.

first I wanted to thank you about the excellent work you have done.
one flat file cms was one of my dreams which you have made true
but there is a problem that the cms has no function in other languages.
it would be really nice if you had made the file in PO language strings just like wordpress. it would be really nice because i want to translate the leap into myu language persian.
so please let me know is there a way? will you do it?

Woofer is a theme ported from frecsstemplates.org for the cms leap.
How to install?
To work it,upload the contents of the zip-archive to the place where leap is installed.Replace if needed.Delete index.php and rename woofer.php to index.php.And you are done.Easy as hell.

Known issues
Menu not showing up
It means that your menu is not called main. To fix it open woofer.php on your pc with any text editing tool and find(Ctrl+F) "".Change ('main') to the way your default menu is named (for example if your menu is called "books" change to ('books') you can check how your menu is named by going Admin Panel-Menus.)
The theme is not showing when i open the website
You have not renamed woofer.php to index.php.Thus you have not followed the install guide i made(do you hate me?).Delete index.php from your directory and rename woofer.php to index.php.

I'm geting an error when installing Leap 0.1.5
I use WampServer2.0h
Reinstalled everything 100 times but no efect.
Created 100 of diferent DB whith passwords and no passwords but still no efect.
get this error:

Leap 0.1.4 Released

I've finally pieced enough of the updates I've made during my work that I felt the changes were significant enough to justify another release. Sadly extensions are still not active in this update, but along with subcategories is still put on priority for the next release. With this release:

+ Updated Control Panel
+ Added Character Encoding to Settings (thanks Zemji)
+ Negative CAPTCHA for S2F and Comment forms

These seemed to be the biggest areas of feedback I was recieving, and I did as much testing as I could to make sure the new features work as they should. My previous CAPTCHA method proved useless lol so only time will tell if this new one will fare any better.

I'm also going to be making changes to the website and trying to push more of the project onto SourceForge (as I figure it out). For any developers and designers (I need both) iinterested in contributing to the project please email me. Knowledge of how to use SF is a major plus lol. As always, feedback is greatly appreciated. I'll try harder to make sure the next update doesn't take a millenia to happen, lol.

Can't make the default template working

Whenever me or any other user first access my site the first link clicked shows "page not found" or something similar and then redirects to the home page. The URL of every link changes to http://www.find-a-designer.co.uk/?page.XXXXX;PHPSESSID=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (note sure if always the same). This is driving my visitors away, have you got any idea of what the problem could be?

I can install leap013 in "localhost" but, when I upload to my site and try to install it shows differend kind of error each time. pls help me to install

dynamic pages from db

Love the concept of this - simple, effective. Can I use this to create/deploy a CMS for a database driven dynamic site so a web client can update their Motorhome sales site? Ie. create a few of template pages for each motorhome (gallery, description, enquire about this RV, slideshow) which grabs the content from a simple flat file MySQL database. Create a simple page for the owner to add, delete and modify the RV details in the database. Or is that going outside the boundaries of LeapCMS?

Nothing appears after installation

I can't change file permissions due to restrictions placed upon me by my web host, so went for a manual install. Once I do this however no content appears on the homepage nor the admin page when I try to look there. No error messages at all just a blank page (which still conforms to the template). See pic since I'm not explaining myself well.

Login troubles

Managed to install leap but can't login using any of the following:
admin/pass
admin@site.com/pass

Checked the DB and it says thet the default login details are,
admin@site.com/1a1dc91c907325c69271ddf0c944bc72

This doesn't work either?

Also tried to change login by editing my DB with no luck!!

Any ideas?

hidden sub menus

Hello everyone, i have a little question about license of Leap CMS. The only information I've found were those that leap is under a Creative Commons License but what about copyright in my own template? I know that I have to leave copyright in leap.php, coz it's engine of whole script, but what about my own template. Creative Commons License says only "You must attribute the work in the manner specified by the author or licensor " so I'm asking the author of this wonderful script what about it?
